⌠ Review: Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (Both Seasons) ⌡
![]() Here is another fact about me, during my spare time I enjoy watching anime and Dramas (Korean, Taiwanese, Chinese, and Japanese) and since I'm still on summer vacation for another week, I decided to glue my eyes on the "Code Geass" anime that has been popular for a while now (I know, I know, can I jump on the bandwagon any later? =P) What I am planning to do for reviewing anime and possibly Live-Action dramas is put a rating out of ten based on storyline, characters, and design (or as some would say, the art) Storyline (Rating: 9/10) *Contains spoilers in the 2nd paragraph. Skip that part if you haven't watched yet* The overall storyline for Code Geass (let's just call it C.G. okay?) is what I think is very excellent. The military tactics and strategies that the main character Lelouch very much reminded me of the "Death Note" anime that I very much liked because of that unique part that one does not see a lot in other anime. Although considering the storyline of "Death Note" if the audience had seen Death Note they must of had an idea of what was going to happen at the end of the C.G. series. Now breaking the storyline into pieces, I am glad that although they mainly kept their focus on Lelouch they also separated smaller storylines of the different people that were brought into the rebellion. Although on fault of it was that near the end they left some of the smaller storylines 'hanging'. For example: What happened to Toudou when he collapsed after making an attempt to go back into the final battle? Although they did show the ending of some of the small storylines some were still left untold. The smaller storylines kept the thought of something real that could happen in a real war situation. Like how Villetta of the Brittania fell in love with Ougi of the Black Knights and was in the tough situation of having to either fight the Black Knights or to give up and return to Ougis' side. And of course there were even smaller stories of when people lost loved ones that fought together. Characters (Rating: 9.5/10) Lelouch Lamperouge (Vi Britannia) Lelouch, who is the son of the Emperor of Britannia in which he was abandoned and sent to Japan which was later was renamed "Area 11" along with his younger sister Nunnally who is blind and crippled because of the terrorists attack that killed her mother. During the first couple of episodes my thoughts of Lelouchs' character is that he was almost exactly like Light in the "Death Note" series. They both are geniuses in strategy and academically with the only difference being that Lelouch was fighting to protect Nunnally and that Lelouch is not athletic. The fact that when you see him in scenes where he has to run away from his fan girls and in various activities makes it funny that we know that even though he is almost perfect he still has his faults. Suzaku Kururugi He is the first and best friend of Lelouch and also the son of the ex-priminister of Japan who died in the war between Japan and Britannia. He was basically the good guy that everyone likes except in the anime he played both the Protagonist and the Antagonist and switched those roles continuously. Although he was considered an "11" he gave up the name to become an "Honorary Britannian" and joined the military to change Britannia from within. He wanted to change Britannia but he wanted to do it without bloodshed. Well, the least amount of bloodshed to occur. C.C. She is the person that gave Lelouch the power of Geass. In which Lelouch can control anyone one by giving them one command. C.C.'s real name is unknown although Lelouch had revealed it they muted the name when he said it to C.C.. Unless Lelouch fulfills C.C.'s contract, C.C. will forever remain immortal. C.C. actually has an obsession with pizza from Pizza Hut so in many scenes you would see her eating pizza or holding the Pizza Hut Mascot plushie with her. So those are a couple of the main characters that I have mentioned. Any more then this blog would of taken much MUCH longer! Art/Design (Rating 8/10) The Art and design of the characters I personally thought was really well done. Which I shouldn't be surprised since CLAMP did most of the designs. Although this time around they didn't re-use their characters like they had a knack for doing. The Nightmare designs were very well done as well. (Reminds me of the Gundam series a lot). One thing that I never really liked and this is in most CLAMP work is the really long legs and sometimes the really long arms. I don't know why but it really bothers me. I guess because its really not a proportional, much less possible to have such long arms or legs. Concluding the review I'd say this deserves a rating of 9/10! I know I have the art and design of 8/10, its not the art that makes it a great anime (well you need good art too to keep your eyes peeled =P) its the storyline and character personality that makes an anime great! So till next time, blogging out! Labels: Code Geass, Code Geass Review |
