⌠ July, My Birthday Month! ⌡
This month of July has been pretty busy. Being in school taking French and Commercial Law, dealing with Ai-kon making Kusudama and stars with meeting the deadline, the Beach, Canada Day and celebrating my birthday. So far, French has been okay, if only I can bring myself to work more in that class, and remember conjugations, I think I would be doing good in it then, haha. As for Commercial Law, I don't have much of a say in it because all the classes are lectures with 2 profs teaching it. It's somewhat confusing and with the 100% final I have to deal with, it temporarily doesn't feel all too bad...But I need to start studying for it now since there's 2.5 weeks before the exam. After commercial law is over, I think my stress will be taken off a little bit more because although there's more work to do in French, it's a lot easier to do. Canada Day was an okay day, haha I wasn't too happy that I was working by myself with my parents while by brother was at the beach till around 5 PM and my younger sister was actually allowed to have the whole day off to go to Assinaboine Park for the day with her friends. It was really hot that day. I think it was around 40 degrees Celsius? It was a lot hotter in the kitchen. My friend Mei and her boyfriend Oz came to visit me at work at around 7 ish to come say hi and see the street market that was set up for the day. Later on, they left and my distant cousin and her boyfriend came by to say hi before they went out to go watch the new Twilight movie. Around 9 ish, Mei and Oz came back and picked me up to go to the forks to watch the fireworks! It was really fun despite the hot weather. It was my first time going to the forks on Canada day and I had fun! There were so many people, performances and the fireworks were really nice! After the fireworks, we went to Global Bubble Tea and hung out there for a while before we decided to head home. A few days later on the Sunday, Mei, Oz, Carene and I went to Birds Hill provincial park to go to the beach. We had a picnic and we played in the water a lot! It was a really good day to bask in the sun with friends eating melted cheese, ham, and tomato sandwiches, Strawberries, and Grapes while taking tons of photos. I also got to see my friend Rachel whom I haven't seen since I went to her school to pick up a necklace that I got her to get for me over the F21 website! I met two of her friends from her high school, Dorothy and Annie. After the beach, I got dropped off at work (was late by an hour...) but at work it was dead and I had an intense sunburn on my shoulders and back. I really wanted to get my legs tanned since they're pretty white. Unfortunately they didn't tan all that much =/ I just have a wonderful swimsuit tan on my back and shoulders hahaha. It was a painful healing process. Ai-kon weekend just passed and I'm exhausted! Even though all I had to do really was just stand around and sell Japanese Handicrafts, it took a lot of energy out of me. Imagine how hard working Wendy and the other workers of Irben are! They basically sell out their complete stock on snacks and drinks! Two weeks before, I was stressing out because I was afraid that I would not finish my Stars and Kusudama Flowers in Time for the Convention. Luckily I managed to finish, unfortunately not many of my flowers were sold :( I'm really disappointed that they didn't sell as much as I anticipated. I still have one jar of stars left that's unsold. I have put up a thread on the ai-kon forum to sell the rest, but so far no responses. *sigh* I really was hoping to make a profit from them, maybe I won't sell those next year. What to make next year? I don't think I'll continue the kusudama flowers unless I go out and buy origami paper and make the smaller kusudama balls since those sold out (those were made by volunteers at the MJCCC). Stars are a maybe. People liked the mini bottles and they were cheap. I sold them for $3 a bottle. If I can make water lilies, roses and other things...But I'm not too sure. I can't say I had a good time, it was a weekend pretty well spent with my friend Russell and a few other people that I normally don't see too often. The week of the convention, I celebrated my 20th birthday! The big two-oh! I got to celebrate it with a lot of my friends, I had invited a lot of my high school friends but unfortunately, they all bailed on me. Sometimes I think, do they even consider me as a friend anymore? Or just "that girl you used to be friends with in High School". It's questionable isn't it? Especially when I created a facebook event one month prior to that date such that people can book off work a head of time. On a more positive note, I would like to thank all of my 18 some friends that came to my birthday :) I really appreciate it even though it was only a dinner and Bubble Tea. I would also like to thank my friends that brought me gifts even though you didn't have to. I will cherish them! A week before that, Huei, Miranda and I had a "Birthday Mash-Up" at Republic Night Club to celebrate our 3 birthdays together! Miranda and Huei's birthday were both actually on the same day and my birthday followed six days after so we thought a big birthday bash would be fun! I had a blast, didn't get completely wasted, but I had fun. We drank, danced a lot, and my arm got really sore from fist pumping the next day hahaha. It was really one of the most fun times I've had at a club! So as usual, I will post a lot of photos from this month so everyone can see! |
